William Tremlett, DO

Dr. William Tremlett is an Enterprise, Alabama native and graduate of Enterprise High School whose path to sports medicine began as an athletic trainer. He attended The University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training while working with Alabama’s sports medicine department. He then earned a Master of Science in Sport & Human Performance with a concentration in Sports Management from Delta State University.

While at Delta State, Dr. Tremlett worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, providing coverage for the university’s Division II men’s soccer, men’s tennis, and women’s tennis programs. He also completed an athletic training internship with the Birmingham Barons. That early experience working directly with athletes continues to shape his approach to evaluating injuries, recovery, and return to activity.

Dr. Tremlett earned his medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn and completed his family medicine residency with Baptist Health in Montgomery. During his residency, he volunteered to provide event medical coverage for the 2022 World Games in Birmingham.

He then returned to The University of Alabama to complete a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. During his fellowship, Dr. Tremlett served as an assistant team physician for Central High School in Tuscaloosa, The University of Alabama, and Shelton State Community College.

Dr. Tremlett is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and is also a board-certified athletic trainer through the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer.

Dr. Tremlett specializes in non-operative sports medicine, evaluating and treating sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions without surgery when appropriate. His background as both a physician and an athletic trainer gives him a unique perspective when caring for athletes and active patients.

His areas of interest include concussion management, shoulder injuries, ultrasound-guided procedures, whole blood injections for tendinopathy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, and orthopedic biologics.

Dr. Tremlett sees patients at Urgent Ortho by Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons in Montgomery, where he evaluates acute orthopedic and sports-related injuries. His experience in athletic training and sports medicine is especially valuable for patients who need timely evaluation and guidance on treatment, recovery, and a safe return to activity.

Dr. Tremlett remains active in sports medicine education and professional development. His presentations have covered topics including concussions, pre-participation physical exams, unusual wrist pain in a high school football player, exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, cardiovascular disorders, and exertional rhabdomyolysis.

He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and American Medical Association.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Tremlett enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. He and his wife are proud to call the River Region home.
