William H. Burkhalter, M.D.

Dr. Burkhalter graduated from medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at the University of South Alabama Family Medicine residency program where he received the Resident Merit Award. After working as a hospitalist, he went back to school and completed the primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of South Alabama. He worked in sports medicine and orthopedics for 6 years after that covering numerous high school and college sports teams across many sports. From an early age Dr. Burkhalter participated in a wide variety of competitive and recreational sports and has a particular interest in hip injuries.

He is married and has 3 stepchildren and several grandchildren. When he isn’t practicing, he is an avid upland bird hunter and has two bird dogs.
