Dr. Sanda is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon at Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons specializing in disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. As SOS’s dedicated spine specialist, he brings advanced training in complex, minimally invasive, and motion-preserving spine care to patients throughout Central Alabama.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Milo Sanda enjoys hunting, fishing, exercising, spending time with family, and being involved in his community. That active lifestyle complements the philosophy he brings to his spine practice: helping patients maintain or regain mobility, reduce pain, and get back to the life that matters to them.
For Dr. Sanda, seeing a spine surgeon does not automatically mean having surgery. His approach begins with understanding the source of a patient’s symptoms and how those symptoms are affecting everyday life.
Whenever appropriate, he prioritizes nonsurgical treatment, including physical therapy, medication management, and image-guided spinal injections. He works closely with each patient through shared decision-making, developing a treatment plan around the patient’s diagnosis, goals, lifestyle, and long-term spinal health.
When surgery is the appropriate next step, Dr. Sanda uses advanced techniques designed to address the underlying spine condition while minimizing disruption to surrounding tissues whenever possible.
Dr. Sanda treats a range of spine conditions, including degenerative spine conditions, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, spinal deformity, and spine-related nerve compression. His practice encompasses conditions affecting the neck, mid back, and low back.
Dr. Sanda earned his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Bon Secours Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at The Spine Institute of Louisiana. There, his training focused on advanced surgical approaches intended to reduce tissue disruption, support recovery, and improve functional outcomes.
Dr. Sanda is a member of the North American Spine Society and remains engaged in advances in spine treatment and surgical innovation, allowing him to bring current techniques and treatment options to his patients.
Whether a patient’s path involves conservative treatment, an interventional procedure, or surgery, Dr. Sanda’s goal is to help patients understand their options and make informed decisions about their spine health.
Dr. Sanda sees patients at Southern Orthopedic Surgeons in Montgomery, Prattville, and Wetumpka, Alabama.
