Dr. Brock Howell is a native of Montgomery, Alabama where he graduated from Saint James School in 2000. Upon graduation he attended Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology, graduating summa cum laude in 2005. He then attended four years of medical school at The University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham.

He spent the next five years completing his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine – Chattanooga Unit, graduating in 2014. During his time in Chattanooga, he received the resident teacher award and the resident leadership award, which provided him the opportunity to join the American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders Program.

After completing his orthopaedic residency, he completed a one-year adult reconstruction fellowship at Joint Implant Surgeons in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of renowned joint replacement surgeons Drs. Adolph Lombardi and Keith Berend. His experience during this fellowship year also afforded him the opportunity to participate as a guest faculty lecturer for The Hip Society’s Rothman-Ranawat Travelling Fellowship as well as The Knee Society’s John N. Insall Travelling Fellowship.

His clinical and surgical interests include primary and revision hip arthoplasty as well as many general orthopaedic procedures. He has experience in direct anterior hip replacement, minimally invasive partial knee replacement and reconstruction of failed hip and knee replacements. He takes emergency call and is experienced in the treatment of many orthopaedic trauma injuries. He has published many peer-reviewed articles and chapters in orthopaedic textbooks.

Dr. Howell is excited to return to his hometown and be able to provide orthopaedic care to the citizens of Montgomery and the surrounding area. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and their three boys Huck, Hampton, and John Henry. His other interests include technology, sports and weightlifting.
